Gulf Coast Forensic Services (GCFS) is committed to helping prepare the next generation of professionals in forensic science, death investigation, digital forensics, and related fields.

Through our educational partnerships, including our partnership with McNeese State University, GCFS provides students with opportunities to connect classroom learning with real-world forensic applications.

Our internship program is designed to give students meaningful exposure to the work performed by forensic professionals while helping them develop professional skills, knowledge, and experience that can prepare them for future careers.

Real-World Experience

At GCFS, interns have the opportunity to learn about the many disciplines that support forensic investigations and medicolegal death investigations.

Depending on their academic program, interests, and available opportunities, interns may gain exposure to areas such as:

  • Forensic science and evidence examination

  • Medicolegal death investigation

  • Evidence documentation

  • Evidence management and processing

  • Death investigation training and education

  • Forensic documentation and report preparation

  • Research and case-related projects

  • Professional training and continuing education

  • The role of forensic professionals in supporting investigative agencies

Interns may also have opportunities to observe or assist with GCFS projects, training events, research, and other professional activities when appropriate.
